When you join us as a police officer, we’ll make a wide range of benefits available to you
Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA)
In the first year of the course officers will earn £28,551 which will increase to £29,751 in the second year. Once officers have completed the programme and are fully ranked officers the salary will increase to £30,957 with annual increments.
There is also a £1,500 yearly London living wage allowance on top of the above salaries.
Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP)
New officers on this route in policing will earn a starting salary of £28,551 which will increase to £29,751 in the second year. Once fully completed and the officer is fully ranked the salary will increase to £30,957 with annual increments.
There is also a £1,500 yearly London living wage allowance on top of the above salaries.
You’ll enjoy the advantages of a contributory pension scheme, which offers generous benefits based on final salary. You’ll start with 22 days annual leave rising to 30 days, dependent on your length of service. You also have access to equity loans for housing under our Key Worker scheme and the opportunity to attend various free advice sessions through Police Mutal.

After your two year probation period you will be able to apply to join the various teams that make Bedfordshire Police. You could move into community policing, work in cyber crime, join the firearms or dogs unit, join the detective pathway and more. The opportunities are endless.
