What is Nectar?
Nectar is a secure digital platform we are trialling to explore how technology can help us work more efficiently. It brings together essential information from numerous different platforms and systems and brings them into one place, making it easier for our teams to access the data they need. While Nectar uses advanced tools, including AI, to speed up searches and improve accuracy, it does not replace human judgement – officers remain in control of all decisions. This trial is being conducted under strict legal and ethical standards to ensure privacy and fairness.

Nectar/Palantir
Nectar allows us to quickly surface information from multiple sources rather than trawling each system individually. This has potential to vastly increase our ability to find relevant data in order to make decisions.
All information is still carried out by a human rather than technology.
Clare's Law - DV protection
- 85% reduction in time to taken to complete the Clare's Law check (average of 10 minutes from 1 hour)
- Based on initial testing, Bedfordshire Police could make more than double the number of Clare's Law ‘Right To Know’ Disclosures in a year. These are new safeguarding opportunities that wouldn't have previously been identified.
- In four hours, Nectar identified 25 additional RTK cases (av 74 per month)
Op Encompass - child protection
- 59% increase in safeguarding opportunities identified for at risk minors in Bedfordshire. These are new safeguarding opportunities that wouldn't have previously been identified.
- 67% reduction in time to complete referral (average of 5 minutes from 15 minutes)
- 123 additional child safety referrals to agencies in first 8 days
- 62% more incidents reviewed – in an 8-day period
