The Bedfordshire Police Historical and Museum Society manages the archives and collections relating to Bedfordshire Police, and all of the former police forces of the county:
The society is made up of a group of volunteers who carry out requests for research into family members of Bedfordshire Police and former local police forces.
The majority of surviving personal records are in our archive, although the short-lived Dunstable Borough Police archives are limited.
If you would like to request research about former officers, please include as many details as possible as this will assist in identifying the correct person.
Equally, if your ancestor served in any of the above-named police forces and you have information about him or her that you are willing to share, the team would love to hear from you. Also, if you have artefacts, photographs or documents relating to Policing that you would like to donate to the collection, please get in touch.
Due to the size of the team please allow time for the team to carry out research on your behalf.
The team is supported by the Force, but is largely self-funding and ask that you if you could consider donating when asking for research to be carried out it would be greatly appreciated.
A display is maintained at Bedfordshire Police Headquarters, but the bulk of the collection is housed at the former Police Station at Bedford Road, Kempston. The museum is not open to the general public, but a visit from a small group of around ten people can be arranged.
