Six arrests made in connection with the death of a man near Langford

Six men have been arrested in connection with the death of a man near Langford in February.

The body of 47-year-old Jesbir Singh Khela was discovered on Thursday 6 February this year, after police were called to reports of a burnt-out vehicle in a field close to the B659 Langford Road.

Jesbir, known to some as Jessy, from Letchworth in Hertfordshire, was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, believed to be a Skoda Octavia.

As part of the investigation, this morning (Tuesday) officers carried out warrants at five addresses in Letchworth, Stotfold and Clifton.

Two men in their 30s were arrested on suspicion of murder, whilst a further four men, also in their 30s, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

They have been taken into police custody for questioning.

A seventh man in his 30s was arrested in June in connection with the incident but was released on bail while enquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Inwood from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “These arrests mark a significant development in our efforts to establish the full circumstances around Jesbir’s death. 

“We are continuing to pursue various lines of enquiry and would urge anyone with further information to contact us immediately.”
