Further charges brought against teen following school incident

Further charges have been brought against a teenager in connection with an incident at Manshead Upper School on Friday (2 May). 

Emergency services were called to the school in Dunstable Road, Caddington, at around 1.40pm to reports of a student believed to be in possession of a knife. 

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at the scene and later charged with causing grievous bodily harm without intent, actual bodily harm and threatening a person with a bladed article on school premises. 

Following an appearance at Luton Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday) he received additional charges of:

• False imprisonment
• Grievous bodily harm with intent (section 18)
• Three further counts of threatening a person with a bladed article on school premises

The 16-year-old has been remanded pending a further hearing on 9 June.

Two people injured in the incident have both been discharged from hospital – their injuries are not deemed to be life-threatening or changing.

Officers are continuing with reassurance patrols around the school and local community.
