Officers have launched an investigation after a suspected firearm was discharged in Luton last night (Tuesday).
Police were called to reports of a firearm being shot at a property in Hockwell Ring at 9.55pm, causing damage to a window.
Emergency services attended, and there were no reported injuries.
Detective Inspector, Graham Newton, investigating, said: “This is an extremely serious offence which would no doubt have caused great concern in this neighbourhood.
“Carrying firearms is never acceptable and we are urging anyone in the area to contact us so we can identify those responsible.
“This incident took place at a time of day where there may have been passers-by on foot, and we are keen to trace them or anyone with any information about the incident.
“Our Boson team are dedicated to tackling gang-related activity, including firearms offences, and regularly carry out enforcement activity to apprehend those involved in gang crime and seize dangerous weapons.
“We are continuing to carry out proactive patrols in the area, and across areas where violent crime is high, to deter offending and build intelligence on gang-related activity.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact police via 101 or our online reporting centre, quoting the reference 40/61534/24.
