Police are looking for two men who talked their way into a Luton home, before threatening the occupants and stealing money and valuables.
The victims, a couple in their 70s, were left shaken and scared in the incident which happened at around 4.40pm last Friday (25 October).
Officers are now sharing advice for residents, warning them to only open doors to known or expected visitors, using a door chain and checking identities of callers. If you are in any doubt, turn the visitor away and call 101.
In Friday’s incident the two men knocked at the property in Wellhouse Close, Luton claiming they had come to fix the windows.
They forced their way into the property before escaping with cash and valuables.
The two men were described as white, in their late 20s or early 30s and spoke with Eastern European accents. They were both wearing Covid-style face masks. One had a black baseball cap and the other had a black North Face hoodie.
Detectives are now appealing for anyone who might have seen anything or know the men to come forward.
Detective Constable Jason Wheeler from Bedfordshire Police’s dedicated burglary unit, Operation Maze, said: “This incident has left the victims extremely shaken and upset and we need information to find the men responsible.
“I would ask local residents to check any CCTV or doorbell footage from around that time and ask anyone else who had a visit from these people to let us know.”
Anyone with information can call 101 or report it online, quoting incident 40/59410/24.
