Bedfordshire Police is highlighting the varied and rewarding career opportunities available in policing as students across the country receive their A-Level results today (Thursday).
Policing has never been more diverse and dynamic, with roles ranging from traditional frontline duties to specialist positions like dog handling and cybercrime investigation – all of which are crucial to force’s mission to tackle crime and keep people safe.
The force offers multiple entry routes catering to different qualification levels and career aspirations, ensuring that individuals from all academic and professional backgrounds can pursue a fulfilling career as a police officer.
For those looking to further their education without following the university route, the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) offers the chance to get a fully funded degree while gaining practical, on-the-job experience and earning a full-time salary.
It’s the ideal pathway for individuals who are ready to jumpstart their careers and make a meaningful contribution to their community.
Chief Inspector Chris Simmons, from Bedfordshire Police’s People and Workforce team, said: “After joining policing at a young age with the intention of staying just a few years, I quickly found it is a career like no other.
“The unique experiences you gain, the relationships you build, and the impact you can have on people’s lives make it incredibly rewarding. That’s why, twenty years later, I’m still here.
“If you’re considering a career in policing or you’re curious about what we do, our careers open day at our force HQ next month is a fantastic opportunity to come see what we have to offer, speak with current officers and staff about their experiences, and find out if it could be the right path for you.”
Bedfordshire Police’s next careers open day takes place on Saturday 14 September at its headquarters in Kempston. There’s no need to book – just turn up any time between 10am and 2pm.
