Bedfordshire Police is appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Kimbolton Road, Bedford.
At around 10:00 am today (18 March), police received reports that a woman had been injured after a man attempted to snatch her handbag at the temporary bus stop near 1 Lodge House.
It was reported that the man fled in the direction of the Bedford town centre. No items were stolen during the offence.
We are asking witnesses for any information that might help us find a man who said to be of Asian heritage, has no facial and was all black clothing at the time of the incident.
Police Constable Callum Watson said: “This was a terrifying incident that has left the victim extremely shaken up.
“Several members of the public stopped to assist the victim in her distress, and we express our thanks for them having done so.
“We know there were many passers-by in the area at the time of the incident, who could help provide us with dashcam footage or any information that could help us identify those responsible for this offence.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the online reporting tool or by calling 101, quoting reference number 155 of 18 March.
Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
