We are appealing for information following a burglary and arson in Shillington on Sunday (23 April).
At around 8.30pm, emergency services were called to reports of a fire at a barn in High Road.
After the fire was extinguished, officers discovered a number of stolen items from a nearby caravan that had been set alight inside the barn.
An unknown number of offenders fled the scene before emergency services arrived but left a gate open, allowing several horses to escape. The horses were safely recaptured and thankfully suffered no injuries.
PC Jake Creasey, investigating, said: "We are treating this incident as deliberate and are appealing to anyone who witnessed or noticed anything suspicious in the area to come forward and speak to us.
"This was a senseless act of antisocial behaviour that seriously damaged someone's property and endangered the safety of several animals.
“Any information, even something that may seem minor or insignificant, could be key to helping us progress our investigation.”
Report online via our online reporting centre or call police on 101, quoting reference number 366 of 23 April.
