Could a career in policing be right for you? Find out at our force recruitment open day.
If you’ve ever thought of joining the police, wondered what the different career paths you could follow or looking to plan what subjects to take at school, this event is perfect for you.
The event, which will take place on Saturday 29 October, between 10am and 4pm at Bedfordshire Police Headquarters in Kempston, will have something for everyone.
Whether you are looking for staff roles like answering calls for help and operating our radio systems, SOCO, IT or our press office or if you are looking for a more traditional role like PCSO, police officer or detective, there will be a variety of stalls with members across many departments in our force to speak to you about them with you.
Inspector Vicky Stoughton, from the People and Workforce development team, said: “Not many people know how many different career paths you can pursue and teams you can work with when in the police. This event will show you what you can do and achieve in a career with Bedfordshire Police.
“It’s not just about working in response on patrol, once qualified you can join the public protection team, road policing unit, the community team and many more.
“If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about joining the policing world, no matter what career path you’ve thought of taking, come along to the event and find out more.”
Chief Superintendent Julie Henderson said: “We are very excited for this event, and the chance to educate the public on what they can achieve in a career with us. We’ll have officers from our dog unit, roads policing unit, intel, CID and many more. This is also a great opportunity for people to find out roles they may not know much about, such as offender management, mental health triage team, community policing and our many staff roles.
“If you are interested, even if joining the police is a passing thought, please sign up and pop by. You might find a role that ticks all your career goals.”
The open day will include stands from different teams within the force as well as team members for people to speak with and learn more. Whether it’s staff roles like the call centre, SOCO, IT or our press office or if you are looking for a more frontline role like PCSO, police officer or detective, there will be members of the force there to speak to you about them all.
Members of the public are asked to register their planned attendance at the event via our recruitment events page.
