Following the introduction of regulations to support the Anti–social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act, we are now required to publish our learning recommendations and responses from the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) on our website.
All recommendations made after 1 October 2014 will be published on this section of our website.
The IOPC makes learning recommendations to the police, or other relevant organisations, after OPC investigations. Recommendations can include improving practice, updating policy or changes to training. They also make recommendations after making decisions on certain types of appeals.
Recommendations may be made to the police, or police and crime commissioners as a result of supervised, managed or independent investigations and certain types of appeal.
Bedfordshire Police has a legal duty to respond to the recommendation. While we do not have to carry out the recommendation, we do have to say what action we have taken or plan to take, or why we have not taken, or do not plan to take, any action.
We must provide responses to the IOPC within 56 days (unless there are valid reasons not to).
We will publish these responses on this section of our website (unless there are valid reasons why they cannot be published), and they are also published on the IOPC website
