We do not underestimate the impact stop and search has on communities and individuals. We know that to maintain public confidence in its use, the power must be used in a correct and effective manner.
It's important to understand the impact stop and search has on communities and individuals. We do this through community engagement, scrutiny and community accountability.
We publish stop and search data regularly so that we can be transparent about how stop and search is used, what is monitored and what is recorded. View our stop and search data.
The independent stop and search community scrutiny panel holds Bedfordshire Police to account on both stop and search and use of force issues and helps us improve our use of these important policing powers.
The group, which meets every two months, reviews complaints and promotes best practice. Its members reflect and represent the diverse communities across Bedfordshire. Anyone over 16 who doesn't work for a police force or the Police and Crime Commissioner can apply to join the panel.
If you'd like to become a member or if you belong to an institution in Bedfordshire and would like to receive free training on the stop and search process, please email the stop and search scrutiny panel.
